Personal Allusion
In the book "The Alchemist" the main character Santiago befriends an Englishman who studies a lot about alchemy. Santiago was told by Melchizedek that alchemy has to do with the soul of the world and that he had to pay attention to the world in order to learn about it. Santiago tries to learn from the books of the Englishman but finds that some things are better learned through experience. I can relate to this. Although there are many things that must be learned from reading and study, many lessons we learn can only be learned through experience. For example, I could read about wrestling techniques for a long time and still I would learn more from one season than I would any other way.
